After a thrilling Lindisfarne Rally, Bob retains the driver’s title he won last year following a day long battle with his nearest rival for the championship, John Stone. They were never more than a few seconds apart on each stage all day with the lead changing hands several times between them. But a big push by Bob on the first full loop of nearly 20 miles (stage 10) saw him take 13 seconds off the 6R4 driver and although John stopped the clocks 9 seconds faster on the last stage, he still ended up 8 seconds in arrears.

Lee Carter has co driven for John all year and as his nearest rivals, Tracey Taylor-West and Vicky Grant didn’t start the event, he can’t be beaten no matter what the result is on the final rally.
